Due to the continuous increment in global temperatures, third world countries especially Pakistan and their urban centres are experiencing severe and extendedd heatwaves, concerning threats to public health, infrastructure, and the environment. In recent years, climate tech Pakistan has emerged as a crucial frontier in combating this growing crisis. Urban heatwave solutions can be forecast, monitor, and mitigate heat impacts with the help of integrating technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT). By using AI and IoT environment tools, it’ll not only help manage the risks of extreme heat but also contributes to long-term climate resilience planning (Brookings Institution, 2023).
Urban Heatwaves
Urban heatwaves has became a crucial crisis in the major cities of Pakistan including Lahore, Karachi, and Multan. The lack of green spaces, rapid urbanization and the concrete-heavy urban landscape, leads to the creation of  “urban heat islands” where temperatures rise higher than enclosing areas. In 2022, Karachi witnessed temperatures extending to 45°C, which leads to severe hospitalizations and deaths, especially among vulnerable populations such as the older people and outdoor workers(Dawn, 2022). Which leaves Pakistan in an urgent and demanding situation to come up with innovative responses to counter these severe heatwaves.
