The future is of artificial intelligence. We have witnessed how it has transformed and is transforming the world. The work that used to be done in hours, can be accomplished in just seconds with the help of artificial intelligence. It can help you in almost everything, from making notes for you or giving you suggestions about what to wear tonight at party to making military strategies and developing modern weapons. There is a paradigm shift, wherein artificial intelligence design strategies, make weapons, can be used in robots that can fight in place of humans, can be used in weapons to increase their efficiency. Despite, having countless benefits, still it faces a lot of criticism because this life changing tool is way more horrible than it seems.
We used different apps to edit our pictures or make videos. Now, we just have to command AI and it will generate pictures and videos you want. For instance, if you ask ai to generate a picture of a girl standing in the middle of two mountains, having flowers in her hand, it will generate. Further if you will command to remove the background it will remove. It was difficult in old time to communicate in other languages if you don’t know how to speak but now if you are speaking in English, with the help of AI, it can be converted into French, German, Hindi and other languages. Seems interesting but is dangerous as well because it can be used by scammers and kidnappers. We have witnessed a lot of events in a past few months that someone calls and says your kid is kidnapped and you have to pay certain amount if you want them alive. Pictures and videos are used to blackmail people and steal money.
If we look at history, whenever new technologies were invented, they took numbers of jobs but not creative jobs. This time AI can also take jobs of creative people like jobs of graphic designers, writers, musicians, actors, painters. No one has ever imagined that a technology can be so powerful to do so. People fear that they will become jobless but with the end of old jobs there will be the introduction of new ones. The only thing is to learn new skills, adapt to what will be helpful in future. There will be the need of someone who can give commands to AI. If AI is being asked to sketch a picture of apple who will be sitting back and making that apple red, white or whatever is being wanted. If one won’t learn AI, their survival in future can be difficult. According to the report of the world economic forum, by 2025 machines will disrupt 85 million jobs globally but it also says that robot revolution will create 97 million new jobs.
Yuval Noah Harari warns that ai can create religious texts, may inspire new cults. This means that Ai is so powerful tool. People are using it too much and are influenced by ai, no app gained as much users as ChatGPT in days, not even Facebook or Instagram. It is also playing a significant role in politics, apps are using ai to show people they want to see and then change their perception. According to the New York times, AI bots can spread disinformation and propaganda on social media, influencing public opinion and political discourse. AI powered drones and robots can engage with targets without humans.
